State Patrol officer injured on duty when strikes livestock in roadway.
Cory Whalen represented a Minnesota State Patrolman injured while on duty. He was responding to an emergency call and struck a horse that was running loose in the roadway. The officer was knocked unconscious and his cruiser was demolished. He sustained severe facial and head injuries and found his life and his career turned upside-down for a long time as he struggled to heal.
The insurance carrier denied all liability for the owner of the horse. Cory Whalen filed a lawsuit and ultimately recovered all limits of coverage in the amount of $300,000.
