Bill’s Story – “$4,000 Offer Was Ridiculous”
It was just a couple of days before Christmas, so I went out to pick up a couple more presents. I’m sitting at a stoplight with four other cars, waiting to cross Highway 55. All of a sudden, there’s a boom when a lady runs into the back of my car. A couple of days later, my neck started bugging me.
But it was Christmas, you know, and I just put some ice on it, hoping it would get better. When it didn’t, I finally went to urgent care, where they told me it was whiplash from the accident. Since then, I’ve had fusion surgery and tons of aggressive therapy.
The other driver’s situation seemed shady to me, so I decided to get an attorney. I found Paul and SiebenCarey online, met with him, and haven’t looked back since. He, Lisa, and Alex were just fantastic. Anytime I had a question, they would return my calls right away. My previous experience with a work comp attorney at another firm was completely the opposite. I’d call, and the secretary would say hang on a second, then get back on and tell me he’s not in the office today. That happened a lot.
Anyhow, Paul really showed his stuff after the insurance company offered $4,000 to settle the claim, which was ridiculous. State Farm flew in this expert witness who was supposed to show I couldn’t have been hurt badly based on the property damage, the speed of the other car, and so on. Paul made this guy look foolish for missing major evidence proving my case. I was really impressed.
What aggravated me about the whole experience is that the other side makes you feel like the bad guy. You’re just sitting at a stoplight after picking up a couple of Christmas presents, doing nothing wrong. Then you get hit and go through all this pain and medical care. But they put the microscope on you instead of the person who caused the crash.
Well, we turned the tables on them with Paul and SiebenCarey. They tried to play hardball on the negotiation, but Paul ate ‘em up, and we eventually settled for $150,000. Again, I couldn’t be happier with Paul and his team. I’d give their phone number to anyone who needs a personal injury or workers’ comp attorney. They’re fantastic.
