The HBO the documentary Hot Coffee reveals what really happened to Stella Liebeck, the 79-year old woman who spilled McDonald’s coffee on herself. The documentary takes a hard look at this case and three others to show how big business spins the media in an effort to bring about “tort reform.”
Trial attorney turned-documentary-filmmaker Susan Salad off says her intent with Hot Coffee is to open people’s eyes to the reality behind the tort reform efforts. “Everyone knows the other side of the (McDonald’s) story. .. I want to at least open minds to another side of the story.”
