SiebenCarey Sponsors First "Social Justice On Tap" Fundraiser for the Southern Minnesota Regional Legal Services
SiebenCarey was a proud sponsor of the first annual Social Justice On Tap fundraiser, organized by the Southern Minnesota Regional Legal Services (SMRLS).
“All proceeds from this fun event benefit SMRLS low-income clients who receive free legal advocacy and education in Southern Minnesota,” said Jim Carey, Managing Partner at SiebenCarey. “SMRLS is Minnesota’s oldest legal aid provider and does amazing work to help Minnesotans when they face critical civil matters. The funds raised by events like this one help ensure that their good work can continue uninterrupted.”
The event, which was held at St. Paul Brewing on Thursday, June 20, 2024, featured beer tastings, prize drawings, games, appetizers, live music, and a silent auction.
The need for legal aid in Minnesota is a pressing issue that continues to increase year after year. In 2023, SMRLS represented more than 33,000 Minnesotans involved in 12,000 legal cases. In addition, attorneys at SMRLS shared in excess of 21,000 hours of direct client support.
The SMRLS mission is to provide a full range of high-quality legal services to low-income persons and eligible client groups in civil matters in a respectful manner that helps clients enforce their legal rights and obtain effective access to the courts, administrative agencies, and justice system.
Founded in 1909, SMRLS serves 33 counties in the south half of the state and the Twin Cities east and west metro. SMRLS has established a tradition of partnership with the private bar, a bi-partisan legislature, the Minnesota Supreme Court, and other Minnesota Legal Services Coalition programs to provide access to justice.
