15th Annual Minnesota Military Family Foundation Golf Classic Will Raise Thousands for Service Members In Need of Assistance
SiebenCarey Is a Founding Sponsor of MMFF and the Annual Fundraising Event
Minnesota service members who need a hand-up will receive a big boost from SiebenCarey Personal Injury Law and a long list of other supporters during the 15th Annual Minnesota Military Family Foundation (MMFF) Golf Classic, slated for Tuesday, Aug. 13.
“This event is so important to the Foundation and the hundreds of soldiers and their families who receive badly-needed emergency assistance when they need it most,” said Jim Carey, managing partner at SiebenCarey and a member of the MMFF Board of Directors. “As the father of two sons who served overseas, I have learned firsthand the financial challenges these soldiers face while deployed and upon their return.”
This year’s Golf Classic will be hosted at Bunker Hills Golf Course in Coon Rapids, Minn. SiebenCarey is a founding sponsor of the event and will also match donations made during a live broadcast from Bunker Hills by Bob Country 106.1 FM. As a founding sponsor, SiebenCarey and Jim Carey have supported the Foundation since it started in 2004, along with Tom Lyons, President of Faelon Partnership, and Bill Popp, MMFF Chairman and President of POPP Communications.
Financial support from MMFF is often provided for unplanned or emergency expenses. Examples include:
- Replacing a furnace or air conditioner that fails while a soldier is deployed.
- Covering the mortgage and other bills for a service member struggling with a spouse's severe illness.
- Picking up the slack when a paycheck is delayed because of bureaucratic red tape.
“What is so impressive about the Foundation and gratifying as a Board Member is that we can turn around an urgent request for help in a day or less,” Carey said. “In many cases, help from MMFF is literally a lifesaver for soldiers and their families in need. I feel like we’re really making a difference for those who have served our country,” he said.
Several other prominent Minnesota companies, including Cargill, 3M, Anderson, and Upper Lakes Foods, are also sponsoring the event. While all registrations to golf in the Classic are filled, anyone interested in sponsoring or contributing to the Foundation should visit the website at MinnesotaMilitaryFamilyFoundation.org.
To start a request for assistance from the Foundation, military families should first contact one of 14 Soldier and Family Readiness Centers around Minnesota.
