Seasoned Workers’ Comp, Personal Injury Attorney George Berens Is Newest Associate at SiebenCarey
MINNEAPOLIS – George Berens, a seasoned attorney with extensive experience in workers’ compensation and disability claims, has joined SiebenCarey, the law firm announced today.
Berens brings a unique perspective to the firm, having previously represented employers and insurers in workers’ compensation defense before dedicating his career to helping injured workers across Minnesota obtain benefits.
“Joining SiebenCarey allows me to do what I’m most passionate about—helping everyday people navigate complex legal claims and fight for the benefits they deserve,” said Berens. “I’ve seen firsthand how insurers operate. I’m proud to use my experience and insight to advocate for injured workers, first responders, and healthcare professionals who need someone in their corner.”
Berens’ background includes years of representing clients from diverse industries, with a special focus on first responders and healthcare workers. His practice areas include workers’ compensation, PERA/MSRS disability claims, and personal injury law. A lifelong Minnesotan, Berens is primarily based in the firm’s Duluth office, but he serves clients statewide, working closely with the Minneapolis team of SiebenCarey.
“George’s extensive experience and commitment to advocacy make him an incredible addition to our team,” said Jim Carey, managing partner at SiebenCarey. “His understanding of the defense and plaintiff sides of workers’ compensation cases gives him a well-rounded approach that will greatly benefit our clients. George truly embodies our mission of helping Minnesotans during their toughest times.”
In addition to his legal expertise, Berens has a long history of public service. He served in the United States Peace Corps in Paraguay from 2004 to 2006. During law school, he continued his commitment to underserved communities through volunteer work with the Minnesota Justice Foundation and the Santiago Public Defender’s Office in Santiago, Chile. This foundation of service fuels his caring approach to practicing law on behalf of his clients.
“I’m here to help people who don’t know where to turn,” Berens added. “Whether it’s a small claim or a life-changing injury, my goal is to provide clear guidance and strong advocacy so my clients feel supported during each step of what can be a lengthy and arduous process.
Outside the office, Berens enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife, Michelle, and their dog, Ernie.
