SiebenCarey Sponsors Crescent Cove Mission to “Make Every Moment Count” for Kids with End-of-Life Conditions
The Carey's: Molly, Nick, Jim, Ian and Maddie
An enthusiastic contingent of SiebenCarey staff and family joined an A-list of supporters at the Gala in the Garden fundraiser on Saturday, Jan. 25, renewing the law firm's support for Crescent Cove Respite & Hospice Home, Minnesota’s first and only home designed for children with shortened life expectancies and their families.
“Crescent Cove is an incredible facility with amazing, dedicated people,” said Jim Carey, SiebenCarey Managing Partner. “Their mission is to make every moment count for these kids and their families, which they do in spectacular fashion by providing loving and joyful respite and end-of-life care. We are proud to be a ‘Kin Sponsor’ of Crescent Cove’s annual gala for a second year,” he added.
Several members of the Carey family, including sons Nick (an attorney at the firm) and Ian (an investigator) and their spouses, joined Jim at the gala held at the JW Marriott hotel, Mall of America. “During the evening, we heard from two brave families firsthand about the incredible impact Crescent Cove had in their children's lives,” said Ian Carey. “The support of the law firm is particularly gratifying, knowing it’s the only facility of its kind in Minnesota and one of only four in the country.”
“Our goal for the Giving Moment was $200,000,” reported Jenny Floria with Crescent Cove, “and we raised $209,800. We were overwhelmed by the generosity of everyone at the Gala and those who gave online.”
Crescent Cove In Action
Each year, more than 700 children die in Minnesota – half of whom could have potentially benefited from a children’s hospice home. Located in Brooklyn Center, Crescent Cove serves as a place for families to care for their children with life-threatening conditions. Crescent Cove’s atmosphere allows for periods of rest and serves as an option beyond the hospital or home environment for compassionate, end-of-life care.
Kids and young adults, 0-21 years old, can stay in one of five bedrooms for overnight respite and, as needed, a sacred place at the end of life. Along with therapy rooms and recreational space, a family suite is available so family members may stay together while enjoying a temporary getaway from the constant demands of caregiving. Nursing professionals trained in pediatric palliative care are on-site to provide daily care, meals, pain, and symptom control. Crescent Cove also offers a network of therapists to engage with kids through music, art, pet therapy, energy work, spiritual care, and hydrotherapy.
